Location: Gifford, East Lothian, Scotland
Architects: James Smith & Alexander McGill (1699–1728)
Interior Designer: Jeffreys Interiors
Project type: Grade A-Listed Historic Mansion
Awards: International Design & Architecture 2021 Restoration Award

This architectural interior photography project documents the extensive restoration of Yester House, a Grade A-listed 18th-century Palladian mansion in East Lothian, transformed by Jeffreys Interiors. The photography captures the delicate balance between the estate’s historic heritage and its new purpose as a functional family home. Visual emphasis is placed on the immense scale of the property, documenting the meticulously conserved plasterwork in the formal rooms, the atmospheric library, and the striking vaulted hallways. The photography focuses on natural light and careful composition to ensure the grand architecture frames, rather than overshadows, the interior design. Particular attention was given to highlighting rich textures and bespoke lifestyle quarters, including a custom cinema and games room, illustrating a genuinely inviting, lived-in environment.
