This architectural photography project documents the ION Adventure Hotel in Iceland, capturing a striking concrete structure suspended above a rugged, snowy lava field. The photography highlights the powerful contrast between the building’s brutalist exterior and its warm, highly textured interiors. Inside the dramatic double-height lounge, expansive glass walls are purposely designed to frame the harsh mountain landscape and offer uninterrupted views of the region’s famous Northern Lights. The composition carefully balances industrial architectural elements, such as exposed steel bracing and raw concrete finishes, with organic design touches. These include volcanic rock accents, bespoke timber joinery, and tactile animal hides. By focusing on natural light and structural scale, the imagery showcases a unique sanctuary perfectly integrated into its extreme otherworldly environment.
