Inverleith | Interior Design Photography

Location: Inverleith, Edinburgh
Interior Designer: Ian Smith Design
Project type: Designer’s Private Residence

This interior photography project documents the private Edinburgh townhouse of interior designer Ian Smith, capturing a highly curated and sophisticated environment. The photography focuses on the striking contrast between the property’s traditional historic stone exterior and its elegantly tailored interiors. Visual emphasis is placed on the home’s layered design, transitioning from the bold black marble partition in the hallway to the heavily textured living areas and sleek oak and marble kitchen. The narrative extends into the private quarters, highlighting a luxurious marble ensuite and a master bedroom defined by rich geometric patterns and tactile velvet finishes. Particular attention was given to framing the unique blend of materials, bespoke furnishings, and an extensive personal art collection featuring striking tribal sculptures. By utilizing natural light and careful composition, the imagery translates these design-forward spaces into a warm, inviting visual narrative.
