Project type: Residential Renovation & Extension

This architectural interior and exterior photography project documents Clermiston Terrace, a thoughtful rear extension to an Edwardian mid-terraced house in Edinburgh, designed by Pend Architects. The project reconfigures the ground floor to create a stronger connection between the home and its garden, replacing a constrained rear outshot with a light-filled, open-plan kitchen, dining and living space. A pitched roof form introduces generous internal volume and draws natural light deep into the plan through carefully positioned rooflights and large sliding doors opening onto a sunken terrace. The material palette is deliberately restrained, combining buff brickwork, pale mortar and aluminium frames externally, with exposed brick, oak joinery and polished concrete internally. The photography focuses on spatial clarity, material continuity and the relationship between architecture and landscape.
